Biography
Adnan Amin is a leading communication expert from Bangladesh, currently heading up the consulting agency Purplewood.
Adnan started his career in a communication role at Unilever, but his interest soon turned to the applications of commercial marketing for social good. This led him to the Bangladesh affiliate of McCann, where he trained in field research and strategy development. In 2007, Adnan and two of his teammates founded Purplewood.
In his career, Adnan has consulted with organizations like UNICEF, the World Food Programme, FHI360, the International Organization for Migration, Practical Action, EngenderHealth, Agricultural Cooperative Development International and Volunteers in Overseas Cooperative Assistance, The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), IFC, the Clean Cooking Alliance, and multiple USAID projects. He has delivered talks and presentations at international conferences in Australia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, India and Turkey.
A keen observer and sound strategist, his work has informed many facets of development in Bangladesh. On the side, Adnan writes a column for The Daily Star, reflecting on people, society, state, and geopolitics.
