Esther Altorfer

Esther Altorfer is the Managing Director for Sistema.bio in Kenya. She has a Master’s degree in Finance and International Affairs in France and Switzerland. She started her career at the impact investment team of Deutsche Bank, and then joined a German microfinance bank in Bolivia. She moved to Mexico to work for BNP Paribas’s investment banking arm, before joining Sistema.bio as Finance Manager in 2014. She structured the in-house finance program to make the biogas clean cooking solution more affordable to farmers and closed the company’s first impact investment round as Finance Director. She started focusing on processes and digitization of operations. After launching the Nicaragua and Kenya subsidiaries, she transitioned to the COO role and moved to Kenya. She has taken the leadership position in the country and now works even more closely with the fastest growing team and market in the company.
