Biography
Govind Kelkar, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of GenDev Centre for Research and Innovation LLP, a Senior Adviser for the Landesa/Rural Development Institute, and a Regional Council Member of the Asia-Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development. In her concurrent assignments, Professor Kelkar is the International Research Coordinator of ENERGIA International in the Netherlands and leads research on Gender and Energy at M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation in India. She is an Adjunct Distinguished Professor at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok, Thailand. Professor Kelkar has the position of Honorary Professor in the Institute of Ethnology at the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences in China, and is a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Chinese Studies in Delhi. At AIT, Professor Kelkar founded the graduate program in Gender Development Studies and also the Gender, Technology and Development Journal, published by SAGE, India.
Govind Kelkar resides in Gurgaon, India. She has worked extensively on gender relations in rural energy and women’s land rights in Asia. She has contributed numerous articles to scholarly journals and written 16 books with a focus on gender relations in Asia and has been in close touch with women’s movements in the region.
