Herma Okonjo

Ms. Okonjo is an improved cookstoves entrepreneur who joined Practical Action in 2015 dealing in liners production and assembly of three kinds of stoves: Kenya Ceramic Jiko (KCJ), Uhai, and Upesi. Through Practical Action’s interventions, she has sharpened her skills on quality production to the point that she has a Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) standardizations certificate for her Uhai stove, achieved product improvement with the changing technologies by embracing production and assembly skills of two new local stoves in the market, strengthened business skills, expanded business growth by extending customer numbers to counties as far as Nairobi and Mombasa, and trained community groups on production and assembly of improved cookstoves. She attains average monthly sales of 2000 liners and 18 cook stoves per month.
