Biography

Mr. Shangbin Gao is the Deputy Director-General/Senior Researcher of Rural Energy and Environment Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) of China. He has worked in MARA since 1985.

Mr. Gao has over 30 years of management and administrative experience in the sustainable agriculture and rural energy sectors of the government, focusing on policy formulation and implementation, long-term and mid-term development planning, institutional management, technical extension, and international cooperation.

He is also a specialist on ecological agriculture, environmental protection, natural resource management, and renewable energy development in rural areas.

Under his leadership, several international cooperation projects funded by GEF; The World Bank, UNDP, FAO and CCA have been successfully implemented; and a number of scientific exchange and cooperation platforms with different countries have been established.

He holds on a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Rural Energy Development. He also has 30 papers and 8 books (chief editor) that have been published.
